Easter Island Time Machine Experience

In the course of human history, there have been a multitude of diverse and mysterious ancient cultures. Few cultures are as singularly unique and debated as the Rapanui people, the inhabitants of what is today known as Easter Island.

Easter Island is a Polynesian island in the southeastern Pacific Ocean, at the southeasternmost point of the Polynesian triangle. The history of Easter Island is rich and controversial. On the island's southeast coast stand nearly a hundred huge, megalithic monuments carved in a stylized manner to resemble male human heads with elongated facial features. The statues average about 13 feet in height, 5 feet in width, and weigh an average of 14 tons; they stand on stone platforms averaging 4 feet in height. Islanders call the statues "moai," and the platforms are called "ahus," but the megaliths abound in mystery: who carved them and what is their significance?

There is profound evidence that a once-thriving culture existed on the island, but when it was discovered by visitors, only several thousand inhabitants remained, struggling for survival. The engineering feat of moving moai from the quarry to their sites remains unexplained, particularly since there is no evidence of wheels or a pully system through which such massive blocks could be transported. No evidence of advanced engineering skills exists on the island.

The Easter Island Time Machine offers a faithful reproduction and scenario re-enactment of Easter Island from the different perspectives of varied historians and experts. Simulations of what 'might have happened' are reproduced in detail, and the attempt is made to capture the island in it's original splendor. Detailed models of the moai statues and native costuming, along with simulated inhabitants and craftsman at work to create these artifacts which adorn the landscape and continue to astound to this day, complete the reproduction and allow for limitless possibilities of exploration and study.

Easter Island is about 64 square miles in area. Our scaled reproduction and live simulation of the landscape and it's people offers unique value to archaeologists, linguists, and cultural anthropologists, as a platform for experimentation and study to compare with empirical evidence and discern the true nature of what occurred there. Our objective is the presentation of a dynamic, multifaceted environment that engages and educates the general public and provides a repeatable process for modeling archaeological finds and historical events.
