Justification
Our pricing is based on experience that typically consultation, installation, testing and debugging of the deployment of OpenSim requires roughly one business day. On occasion issues have caused this to take more time. For this reason, we consider the price to be more than fair for the time requirements and we do not negotiate on the base rate.
Service Includes
- Running OpenSim in Grid Mode with one region loaded, named by you, master avatar account created, and password provided to you.
- Includes OpenSim Web Interface (also known as OpenSim Wi-Redux) with built in sign up form and backend administrative facility
- Value-Added Client Configuration Page tells visitors how to set up their viewer to connect
- System tested to ensure clients can connect, tested to ensure clients can signup
- If your hardware meets requirements, we deliver the system within 24 to 48 hours of payment and the provision of access information on your server.
Service DOES NOT Include
- Does not include configuration of your mail server, router, or other unrelated hardware, software, or services. Configuration and installation of these services can be provided for additional fees.
- Does not include training materials or indicate a contract to provide continued support. This is simply an installation, configuration, and setup service. Training and support can be provided for additional fees.
- Does not include configuration of OpenSim extensions such as currency, OSSearch, or other add-ons which may be created in the future. Development and deployment services for those features can be provided for additional fees.
- Does not include OGP, HyperGrid, or connecting your server to another grid, due to the number of grids and different configurations. We can work with you to perform this task for the additional fee of L$2700 per hour.
- Does not include a security evaluation. If you would like a security evaluation of your install, we offer system administration services. Ensuring the continued integrity of your passwords and data is your responsibility.
- Does not include any backup solutions, virus scans, or regular maintenance process or scripts. We can provide these services for additional fees.
- This service is not a support contract. With this service, we only install the initial servers. Continued maintenance and operation of your servers is your responsibility. We CAN provide support services, but with this service we do not provide unlimited support of OpenSim or OpenSim related problems.
Server Requirements
Client must supply the server hardware and appropriate access information. If you do not have a suitable host we can assist you in locating a server facility.
We will not support installations with less than 2GB of ram.
We will require administrative rights to access the system, either over VNC, RDP, or another remote administration program. Use of non-standard access methods may result in an additional fee of L$2700 per hour.
Operating System
Linux (Ubuntu)
For compatibility, stability, and performance reasons, we prefer Ubuntu 9 Server for our installations.
Linux installations use Apache / PHP5 / MySQL 5. Alternate configurations can be delivered, this modification incurs additional service fees of L$2700 per hour as debugging may be required.
Linux (Other)
Linux installations other than Ubuntu incur an additional service fee of L$5200 as debugging may be required. As such installations are untested, we cannot guarantee successful operation of OpenSim under Mono on systems that are not ubuntu. We have had varied results with a variety of distributions.
Microsoft Windows XP
For compatibility, stability, and performance reasons, we prefer Microsoft Windows XP for our installations. We can configure your installation for other Windows operating systems such as Windows Vista, however, additional fees in working with the specific security models or different system requirements for these versions may apply.
Windows installations use XAMPP. Alternate configurations of webserver and database server can be delivered, this modification incurs additional service fees of L$2700 per hour as debugging may be required.
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (64-bit)
Using a VPS System with Windows Server 2003 on a 64 bit processor has a variety of issues.
We recommend 32 bit Windows with OpenSim if you would like to use the built-in OpenDynamicsEngine (ODE) for physics simulation.
We keep apprised of evolutions in this software and will let you know if there is a better solution.
Other Operating Systems
We can support other operating systems. Due to the time considerations to support these systems, non-standard operating system deployment requires L$2700 per hour debugging for quality assurance.

For stability purposes, it is recommended to deploy only 1 region per cpu (or core).
